Business Development & Sales Manager – Academic Research (Southern California | Remote)
Overview
A global life sciences organization providing preclinical discovery services, genetically engineered model systems, and contract research support is expanding its Business Development team. The company partners with academic, non-profit, biotech, and pharmaceutical organizations worldwide and operates across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Role Summary
This role focuses on business development within academic and non-profit research institutions across the SoCal territory. Working remotely, you will build institution-level relationships, identify new opportunities, present scientific solutions, and support collaborative research efforts within an international commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and expand academic and non-profit research partnerships
Build long-term, institution-level relationships
Present preclinical products and services aligned to biomedical and translational research
Drive revenue growth and market expansion
Support client accounts and coordinate research collaborations
Attend scientific conferences and industry events
Provide market and competitive intelligence internally
Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Pharmacy, or related field
Overseas academic or professional experience required
Experience with genetically engineered mouse models preferred
5+ years of sales experience selling into academic research institutions
Strong scientific communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Comfortable working cross-functionally in a global environment
Willingness to travel 25%+
Mandarin fluency required
