Job Description
We are partnered with a global financial institution is seeking an experienced Credit Risk Officer to join its independent risk function in New York. The individual will evaluate and oversee a portfolio of complex financing transactions across infrastructure, energy, real assets, and commodity-related sectors.
This is a senior credit position combining transaction assessment, credit decision-making, portfolio oversight, and broader risk-governance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent credit assessments of complex project, infrastructure, energy, and trade-related financing transactions.
- Evaluate obligor and counterparty strength, historical performance, transaction structure, collateral, projected cash flows, and key risk factors.
- Prepare clear credit recommendations and provide or support approval decisions for new transactions, amendments, and renewals.
- Assess non-recourse and limited-recourse structures across sectors such as renewable energy, digital infrastructure, core infrastructure, and commodities.
- Review internal risk ratings, loss assumptions, financial metrics, covenants, and structural protections.
- Monitor the ongoing credit quality of the portfolio and identify emerging or deteriorating risks.
- Participate in periodic portfolio, watchlist, and concentration reviews.
- Track relevant credit, commodity, banking, and capital-markets developments.
- Contribute to credit policies, portfolio limits, risk-appetite decisions, and management or regulatory reporting.
- Partner with front-office, portfolio management, legal, compliance, and other risk stakeholders.
- Assess the credit implications of new products and financing initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- At least seven years of credit risk, underwriting, or structured-finance experience within banking or financial services.
- Strong experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, energy finance, trade finance, or commodity-related lending.
- Exposure to both project/infrastructure transactions and commodity or trade finance is strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of non-recourse financing, counterparty risk, transaction structuring, collateral analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
- Experience preparing credit recommendations or participating in credit approval decisions for complex transactions.
- Strong knowledge of the US lending market and applicable regulatory expectations.
- Excellent financial analysis, judgment, written communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to assess multiple complex transactions and manage competing priorities independently.
- Experience working across risk, business, legal, and compliance functions.
- French-language capability is helpful but not required.
